The Rooms We Carry With Us

Every house I lived in as a child had its own rhythm. Some were loud, filled with children and constant motion. Others were strict, heavy with rules and unspoken expectations. A few were softer, places where laughter managed to slip through at the dinner table, even when life was hard.

Even now, I can walk into a space and feel its weight within seconds. The energy in a room speaks long before words are ever said.

When I began writing Dreams That Matter, I realized those rooms never really left me. They shaped how I see people, how I design spaces, how I parent, and how I lead. Each one became part of the architecture within me.

This is why I believe homes matter. At JASPER, we don’t simply raise walls. We create environments that shape the people inside them. The stories that unfold, the memories that linger, and the way someone feels when they cross the threshold all begin with the rooms we build.

We are always constructing internal spaces, formed by the choices we make, the relationships we nurture, and the habits we repeat. These invisible rooms live within us, even if we don't always recognize them. Some are cluttered and need to be cleared. Others are sacred and deserve to be preserved and cherished. And a few need to be torn down and rebuilt entirely.

The question isn’t whether we carry rooms. The real question is: what kind of rooms are we willing to live in?
